Abstract
The survey was conducted to find out the baseline of vital events registration,to identify the problems and issues in vital events registration and to identify doable recommendations to improve vital events registration in Nepal.Scope of the study is to identify base line of vital events registration and to meaure the khowledge level of general people. It is the national representating sample survey covering 16 districts of Nepal.

Study report shows that birth registration is found 76%,death registration 75%,marrige registration 75% .Similarly devorce is found 87%,where migration registration rate is found 60%.The highest birth registration is in terai districts (79%) and the lower registration rate is found in mountain districts (58%). Higher birth registrition is found in madeshi and the lowest registration rate was found in janajati .

Sampling

Sampling Procedure
Multi stages random sampling is followed. In first stage 16 districts are selected ramdomly through lottory method. In second stage 3 VDCs from each districts are selected randomly using lottory method.In 3rd stage, 2 wards are selected from each VDCs . All these three stages are completed in kathmandu. Task of Cluster selection is given to ennumrator. From each cluster 20 individuals are interviewed. All total 960 individuals are interviewed.
Deviations from the Sample Design
Due to geographicall difficulties 1 VDC from Humla and one VDC from Taplejung are changed . Similarly,one VDCs added in Dhankuta district, MaunaBuduk VDCs because of inadaquate number of respondent .

Supervision
Supervision was made by Regioonal Vital Registration and Social Protection Officer (SPVRO). SPVRO directly involved in this survey from the beginning to data entry process.All together 48 social mobilizer mobilized to collect data. SPVRO from 6 Regional Office were involve to supervise the data collection works.
Data Collection Notes
The training for survey coordinator was conducted at kathmandu on 19 March.The cooordinnator were conduct training for ennumerator on 25 to 30 at 5 regional level.The interview was about 30 minutes.

questionnaire was prepareed in Nepali language.It was about 2 pages. The questionnaire was finalized by survey core team.

Data Processing

Data Editing
Collected data were entered in CSPro by Regional SPVRO. Before entering data orientation was given to SPVROs. Data were entered at DoCR office at kathmandu individusually and then compiled.
Other Processing
All data were entered mannually by SPVROs at DoCR office Kathmandu in individual Laptop. All together 6 Laptops were used for data entry. then it was compiled into one file.
