Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2024-25, Fourth round

The BH dataset contains information collected through the Birth History module administered to eligible women aged 15–49 years in the Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (NMICS) 2024. The file provides a complete history of all live births reported by each eligible woman, including the date of birth, sex of the child, survival status, age at death (if deceased), and other birth-related characteristics. The dataset supports the estimation of fertility, childhood mortality, and maternal and child health indicators and facilitates the identification of children eligible for other survey modules.

The BH file is organized at the level of individual live births, with one record for each live-born child reported by an eligible woman.

The WM dataset contains information collected through the Women's Questionnaire of the Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (NMICS) 2024. The questionnaire was administered to all eligible women aged 15–49 years residing in selected households. The dataset includes information on women's background characteristics, education, marriage and union status, fertility, birth history, maternal and newborn health, family planning, reproductive health, health insurance, tobacco and alcohol use, life satisfaction, and other topics relevant to monitoring the health and well-being of women and children. The file serves as the primary source for estimating women-specific and maternal health indicators in NMICS.

The HL dataset contains information on all household members and visitors recorded in the Household Member Listing component of the Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (NMICS) 2024. The dataset includes demographic, educational, and social characteristics of each listed household member, such as age, sex, relationship to the household head, marital status, education, school attendance, functional difficulties, and other household roster information. The file serves as the principal household member-level dataset and provides the basis for identifying eligible respondents for individual questionnaires administered during the survey. The HL dataset also facilitates the production of population-based indicators and supports linkage with household and individual-level datasets.

The MN dataset was subjected to standard MICS data processing and quality assurance procedures. These included verification of respondent identification variables, range and consistency checks, validation of age and eligibility criteria, skip pattern verification, duplicate record detection, cross-file consistency checks with household and household member datasets, correction of data entry and processing errors, generation of derived variables, and anonymization of the public-use dataset. Data editing procedures followed standard MICS7 guidelines to ensure data quality, reliability, and international comparability.

It provides information on household characteristics and living conditions necessary for monitoring key social and economic indicators. The dataset includes household identification variables, housing characteristics, access to drinking water and sanitation, household assets, use of information and communication technologies, energy sources, handwashing facilities, and other household-level indicators. The file serves as the principal source for estimating household-level MICS indicators and is linked to individual-level datasets through common household identifiers.

The Birth History (BH) dataset contains one record for every live birth reported by interviewed women aged 15-49 years. The file includes information on birth dates, sex of the child, survival status, age at death for deceased children, birth order, multiple births, and relevant identification and weighting variables. The dataset is used primarily for the estimation of fertility and childhood mortality indicators and can be linked to the women's questionnaire data through common identification variables.

The CH dataset contains information collected through the Children Aged 5–17 Years Questionnaire of the Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (NMICS) 2024. The dataset includes information on the demographic characteristics, education, school attendance, learning environment, functional difficulties, child labour, child discipline, mental health and psychosocial well-being, parental support, access to information and communication technology, and other indicators related to the well-being and development of children and adolescents aged 5–17 years. The file serves as the primary child-level dataset for the analysis of education, protection, disability, and adolescent well-being indicators.
