Abstract
To fill data gaps in current agricultural statistics, the growing share of commercial floriculture was identified to be measured through the nationally representative survey. The Nepal Commercial floriculture Survey 2015 was conducted for the first time in Nepal.
The survey was designed with the following objectives:
(i) To estimate the contribution/share of commercial floriculture on national economy.
(ii) To provide statistical information on status, types of commercial floriculture and utilization and distribution of floriculture products.
(iii) To provide statistical information on employment status in commercial floriculture sector; and
(iv) To generate statistics required for the development of commercial floriculture to planners, policy makers and researchers.
The survey was designed with the following objectives:

(ii) To provide statistical information on status, types of commercial floriculture and utilization and distribution of floriculture products.
(iii) To provide statistical information on employment status in commercial floriculture sector; and

It was complete ennumeration of floriculture firms, but a sample was taken from former Ichangu VDC for loose flower.

Supervision
An intensive supervision over the field work was carried out by the supervisory staff comprising district level officers and supervisors. In addition, field supervision was carried out to various districts by the officers and supervisors of agriculture statistics section of CBS and Agricultural Statistician of the project. Supervision was done basically for checking to control non-sampling errors likely to occur due to enumerators or respondents or both. After completing the work of enumeration in assigned number of wards in a team, enumerators submitted the filled-in questionnaires to the supervisor or team leader for editing and checking. On the basis of the work done by enumerators in the sleeted wards, the team leader provided the progress report of the survey in the respective SO and to CBS through phone. The report of the supervisory staff confirmed that the quality of data collected by the field staff by and large was quite good.

The commercial floriculture survey questionaire consists of seven sections as follows;
1. Introductory Description: It has questions on geographical location of the enumeration area, information on the propiter such as name, caste/ethnicity, sex, educational status
2. General Information: This section covers the information on registration status, starting year of firm, type of ownership, main production.
3. Description of Employment
4. Land and its utilization: This section covers number and area of parcles, irrigation status, owmership, utilization.
5. Production and sell: The information on production and sell of seasonal flower's plant, Perinial flowers's plant, Ornamental flower's plant, cur flower, loose flower, seeds, carpet grass were gathered in
this section.
6. Current and capital expenditure: This section covers information on current and capital expenditure in various headings.
7. Status of debt: This section provide information on status of debt, objective of loan and type of loan provider.
8. Miscellaneous: This section provide information on export, import, tunnel and greenhouse, growth rate, perception of propiter.

Filled-in questionnaires were scrutinized for editing, consistency checking and recoding as needed before going to the data entry procedure.
Other Processing
The Nepal Commercual Floriculture Survey 2015-16 data entry programme was prepared by the Agriculture Statistics Section of CBS. The programme was prepared in CSPro 4. The data entry was done at the centre (CBS) after collectiong the filled-in questionnaires from. Staff in the Agriculture Statistics Section of CBS enter the data at the desktop for more than a month. The supervision of the data entry was done by the directors of the Agriculture Statistics Section. The verification of the data entry was made exporting the data into STATA MP 10.1 package.
