The present manufacturing production index is based on census of manufacturing establishments (CME) 2006/07. The both indices cover 23-three-digit NSIC groups and 44 commodities. The selected commodities for the index are updated at the interval of each five years. The revision is based on the census of manufacturing establishments, to be conducted quinquinnial. Indirect taxes as well as number of employees is collected as well. The data collection is done on the particular month of each quarter according to Nepalese Calender, so the above translated dates of data collection may differ slightly. The weight of the quarterly survey of manufacturing production and price indices is based on total census output of CME 2006/07. Weight has been assigned at two stages. At the first stage it has been assigned in four-digit NSIC industry group and at the second stage, the weight of the particular four-digit NSIC industry groups are redistributed among the selected commodities within that particular four-digit NSIC industry group. The redistribution of the weight at the commodity level is based on their share on total value of shipment within that particular four-digit NSIC industry group. Spot checking as well as checking of the completeneess, gaps and ommission in the data at BSO level as well as consistency checking within data sets and across data sets. Approximaterly 85 percent Cross-checking within and across data sets as well as with previous data sets done regularly within the Industry and Industry Group Confidentiality of the respondents is guaranteed by article 8 of Statistics Act 1958, which states "Any information or details relating to any person, family, firm or company, which has been supplied, obtained or prepared pursuant to section 3, section 4, section 5, section 6 ot section 7, or any part of such information or details, shall not be disclosed or published directly except to the Director General or to any officer of the Bureau without the written person or of his authorised representative supplying such information or details."
